Student statistics (December 2024)

How FOCHTA fared in its bursary programme 

As at December 16, 2024. 

Over the last 21 years, FOCHTA has supported over 2,600 students to study in secondary schools with 24 students later graduated in universities. There are three who have obtained master degrees, namely, Clara Lemani, M Demography, Aaron Bwanali, M Sc -Physiotherapy and Keith Mwithiwa - M Sc - Management Studies. Meanwhile, Chifundo Makwinja will be finishing his M Public Health Nutrition degree by mid-2025.

Our university graduates are now working in the following fields:

  1. Aaron Mwafulirwa - university lecturer in physiotherapy
  2. Amadu Bwanali - District operations officer for an NGO
  3. Austin Kamalame - Irrigation Engineer
  4. Brenda Jeremia - Senior Nursing Sister
  5. Chifundo Makwinja - Food for Health Programs Officer
  6. Chifuniro Mawindo - Business communication management
  7. Clara Lemani - statistician
  8. Douglas Namame - Physiotherapy. Sadly he passed away from illness.
  9. Dyton Liphale - teacher & pastor
  10. Funani Malata -Clinical associate in obstetrics & gynaecology
  11. Grace Kwanjana - teacher
  12. Henry Kadam’manja - Executive director of Fochta
  13. Henry Kanjerwa - Business executive
  14. Irene Miteche - teacher
  15. Innocent Kanjerwa - teacher
  16. Innocent Banda - theology scholar
  17. James Mphaya - teacher (he studied agronomy)
  18. John Kenala - Environmental specialist for a hydro electric company
  19. Justice Gwirani - teacher
  20. Keith Mwithiwa - Project Officer for the Malawi AIDS Counseling & Resource Mobilisation.
  21. Siyani George - agriculturist
  22. Treaser Thomas - scientist
  23. Violet Mlozi - teacher
  24. Alice Mleme - accountant-to-be (she just graduated in Dec 20, 2024) 

Currently we have 7 undergraduates studying degrees in Commerce, Agribusiness Management, Journalism, Biological Science, Agriculture Education, Accountancy, and Business Management & Entrepreneurship. 

Since our inception, over a hundred post-secondary students have obtained diplomas or certificates in tertiary colleges. They are now working in the fields as animal health management officer, clinical officer, nurses, accountant, car mechanics, journalist, community development officer, primary school teachers, general fitting, electrician, welder, tailors, carpenters, computer & information system technicians.
