Grace’s father died a long time ago, she has only her mother who is 77 years old. She has six siblings, 4 boys and 3 girls altogether, with her being the sixth born. Due to them living in poverty, she would not have made it in her studies without the support of Fochta.

Grace was first supported by Fochta to study in the St Mary’s Girls Secondary School in Zomba which is a national secondary school. ( In Malawi, there are three types of secondary schools, the community day secondary schools, the secondary schools and the national schools. The fees vary a lot depending on which school one studies in ) She then further her studies at the Chancellor College of the University of Malawi to pursue the Bachelor of Education - Languages degree.

Grace graduated in 2018 and later was employed by the Ministry of Education to teach English and Chichewa at the Thekerani Secondary School where she is still teaching there now.

When Grace was young, she used to compose songs but only spiritual ones. Before she went to college, she had hoped to study music in the department of music but I was not successful. So, after she graduated, she decided to start singing professionally, in addition to her teaching career. She said “What really made me started singing was the Holy Spirit. I used to dream about songs and had visions to serve the Lord through singing. So I never hesitate to answer God’s call. I am really hopeful that God is the one leading me”.

Grace married in 2021 and has one son. Her husband is employed in an insurance company.
