How FOCHTA fared in its bursary programme
Over the last 17 years, FOCHTA has enabled 20 students to graduate with tertiary degrees and is currently helping 8 students in their undergraduate studies.
The university graduates are now working in the following fields:
- statistician (Clara Lemani)
- teachers (Ireen Miteche, Henry Kadam’manja, Justice Gwirani, Grace Kwanjana, Violet Mlozi)
- social worker (Amadu Bwanali)
- midwives (Brenda Jeremia, Keith Mwithiwa)
- physiotherapy lecturer (Aaron Mwanfulirwa who is now on leave from the College of Medicine studying in South Africa for a masters degree in physiotherapy)
- agriculturist (Wilson Saikonde)
- irrigation engineer (Austin Kambalame)
- agronomist (James Mphaya)
- land economist (Henry Kadam’manja)
- physical planner (John Kenala)
- scientist (Teresa Thomas)
- teacher & Pastor (Dyton Liphale)
- we have also Siyani George who studied B. Sc. and is now working in the Ministry of Gender.
Currently we have 8 university undergraduate students. They are:

- In the Malawi College of Health Sciences, we have Caroline Malindima studying a diploma in nursing.
Since our inception, many more have obtained diplomas or certificates in tertiary colleges. They are now working in the following fields:

- Journalism - Enock Nphanzi, Chikondi Chakwana, Mike Chatuwa.
- Community Development - Nenani James, Kelvin Dickman, Dikirani Madalitso, Andrew Nthemwe, Sheillah Makwiti.
- Primary school teaching - Rose Namileka, Stenala Lemani, Lion Maseya, Rexa Ndalama, Amos Mwamlima, Stanslas Chikwawa, Otice Byson, Often Zuze, Agness Chimowa, Chifundo Amosi, Amos Mwamlima, Chitani Moffati, Hector Shadreck, Ronald Banda, Patrick Thengende, Witford Mponda, Lucy Chimwendo, Michael Banda, Yohane Nthemwe, Vincent Ngalande, Dyna Mphanje, Samuel Ben, Kambani Redson, Patrick Brazio, Nyadani Mutchona.

- Electrical Installation & Electronics - Waliyesa Malenga, Yohane Mtambalika, Noel Banda, Gift William, Mphaso Ngwamire, Sarafina Banda and Fred Justin.
- Welding - Glyn Bwanali, Alick Mangombo, Evance Time, Madalitso Manyungwa, Agnes Overton, Vincent Chikaonga, Joyce Maluwa, Paul Daniel.
- Tailoring & Fashion Design - Patricia Masiba, James Sanudi, Isaac Mathiya, Kakowa, Fryness Kazembe.
- Administrator - Bright Denmark.
- Computing & Information Systems - 3 obtained UK’s ABMA Level 4 exams and one in Level 5.
- In addition, Alambeje Daniel studied and obtained her certificate in a special needs college in the capital.
As for FOCHTA’s secondary school bursary programme, there is a total of 2311 students who have completed their secondary schooling. In the current school year of 2020-2021, we have 58 students.
