FOCHTA Girls Tutorial Project starts
FOCHTA has begun a Girls Tutorial Program which assists female students with their science subjects. Girl students are the most disadvantaged group of beneficiaries.
The first tutorial was held on 16 January 2010 with 17 students participating. FOCHTA has hired a science teacher who teaches Physical Science and Biology to tutor the girls. He will help the girls prepare for their school and national examinations. FOCHTA staff made the decision to offer science tutorials because science subjects tend to more poorly staffed and funded in Malawi schools.
The students have now requested that FOCHTA run tutorials in Mathematics and English.
